Save Draft.

I have been having revelations the most lately over good meals with friends and good books; both providing enjoyment in different ways.  I returned tonight from dinner with my friend Claire and her man, Clay.  We had a lot of laughs.  She snuck in the joke that she’s been checking back with my blog to notice that “nothing new has been posted” — low blow! (kidding Claire).  In actuality, her and another friend Erik have been the ones to remind me in recent days that this new year’s resolution is not happening!!  My comeback to Claire was, “Well…ahem…I have 2 posts saved to draft.”  It’s true.  There are 2 just sitting there saved to draft.  I guess I was waiting for the right moment to edit, add on, or finalize them.  The reality is, the longer I wait the more I second guess the point of what I was writing in the first place.

As I was walking home from dinner I thought:  how much of my life is saved to draft?  This is our one chance at doing all of the things that we want to do – why wait?  Why save to draft?

With that said, I commit to a post a day – regardless of the length, content, or final copy status.  Although I teach a writing class to fifth graders, blogging is my informal writing time and I’m learning to accept that fact.  Tonight try to think of one thing in your life that you’re going to click to published status.  Then, go ahead and make it happen.  I’ll catch you later.  I have a button to press…. 😉
